Driving through Toronto via the 407 we were looking for a place to stop and have a bite. This was our first time to Smash Kitchen & Bar and it was easy to find and tucked into a corner of a plaza that had plenty of parking. It's a really nice restaurant and quite a bit larger than you'd expect from the outside. We were greeted and seated right away and once we received the menu discovered that they only serve brunch until 2:30PM on the weekends. We had perused their dinner menu prior to visiting and had picked out a couple of things we really wanted to try. We resigned ourselves to what was available and ordered the Smash Benedict and the Smash Burger. The service was fantastic and we were surprised at how fast our food arrived at the table after ordering. The Smash Benedict and hash browns were delicious, the pulled pork was a nice touch, tender and juicy. The cheddar cheese gravy was also delicious and a different twist from the usual hollandaise sauce. The Smash Burger was ordered with an optional topping of a fried egg. The burger was one of the best I've had in a long time. The patty was so tender and cooked to perfection, just a touch of pink and lots of flavour. I love a burger with a fried egg on top and all held together with a delicious and soft bun. Prices were reasonable and we'd love to go back and try their dinner menu.
